Plan International’s first operation in Ethiopia started in Lalibela, in November 1974 and is currently implementing its program in Gambella, Benishangul-Gumuz, Afar, Oromia, Amhara, SNNPR, and Addis Ababa City Administration. Plan International Ethiopia will also continue low presence in Somali and Tigray. Furthermore, if there is a national-level emergency crisis in the country Plan International Ethiopia will respond quickly, effectively, and at a significant scale, even in areas where we are not present.
Position 1: Economic Empowerment Officer
The Opportunity
The Economic Empowerment Officer (EEO) will be in charge of economic strengthening and IGA parts of the project implemented in the fields under Plan International Ethiopia and collaborate with local government offices, community, service providers, facilities (OSCs/PHCUs, schools, TVETs, police, law enforcement bodies), CSOs, zonal and woreda level multisectoral cluster coordination, SGBV committee, community associations operating in the regions mentioned above. The role will require technical guidance and support from SOYEE advisor, closely working with Plan International Ethiopia’s Technical advisors on SRHR, Gender and inclusion specialist, cash specialist, MEAL Coordinator, SGBV specialist, program quality team, area managers, operations team who provide support to the quality program delivery. The position will be based at the Afar regional offices of Plan International Ethiopia.

Safeguarding Children and Young People (Safeguarding) and Gender Equality and Inclusion (GEI)
- Understands and puts into practice the responsibilities under Safeguarding and GEI policies and Plan International’s Code of Conduct (CoC), ensuring that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
- Ensures that all staff signed safeguarding policies.
- Implement Plan International’s global policies for Safeguarding Children and Young People and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in day to day work.
Education
• Bachelor degree in Economics, Business Management, Business Administration, and Development studies.
• 3 years of demonstrated success/ experience in the economic empowerment/strengthening projects, including strengthening IGA (Income Generating Activities/interventions for SGBV survivors.
Position 2: Assistant Community Development Facilitator
The Opportunity
- The Assistant Community Facilitator will be responsible for the overall management of PIE day-to-day outreach service in the management of Community-based Acute Malnutrition and Protection in the field site (host community and Refugee Camp) through community mobilization, sensitization, and education.
- The position holder is responsible for supporting all integrated health, nutrition, and protection activities implemented Gambella Program Area office. In addition to the specific duties outlined below, the Assistance Community Facilitators will be responsible for providing technical support and supervision to the health extension workers, ensuring target beneficiaries’ identification and referral, sanitation and hygiene promotion, contributing to reporting and data collection initiating leading monitoring visits to supported facilities in collaboration with project teams.
Education
- BA degree or Diploma in social science, Public Health, Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, Community or Cooperative Development, Community Health, Home Economics, and another related subject
- Minimum of 2 years NGO-related work experience for degree holders and 4 years of related work experience for diploma holders either as a community facilitator or community development.
Languages required:
- Fluency in the English language and Local Languages is mandatory
