The National Tobacco Enterprise (NTE) Founded in 1942 GC, NTE is the monopoly tobacco manufacturer in Ethiopia, known for its flagship brand, Nyala. With over 1,000 employees and supporting 10,300 tobacco out-growers, NTE is a significant contributor to the local economy. In addition to its Addis Ababa factory, NTE operates five tobacco farms: Robi, Billate, Hawassa, Wolayta, and East Shoa.

Position 1: Agronomy Technician /Field/

Main responsibilities:

  • Oversee seed bed preparation, ensure ideal tobacco seedlings, register farmers with suitable land, distribute seedlings and materials, and provide timely technical support.
  • Establish a respectful extension system to help farmers accept and apply agronomic advice.
  • Ensure proper land preparation, cultural practices, and pest control to enhance leaf production quality and quantity. Implement minimum agronomic standards.
  • Ensure clear grading of tobacco leaves, correct grading and weighing during buying, and timely submission of buying sheets.
  • Monitor Agronomy Associates and workers, ensuring they follow instructions and programs.

Location: All four vacancies are in Southern Ethiopia, with three positions available in Bilate and one position in Wolaita.

Position 2: Finance Supervisor

Main responsibilities:

  • Plans and oversees activities of Leaf Operation Centers (LOCs).
  • Supervises maintenance and consolidation of accounting records for LOCs.
  • Manages annual and required account closings and financial statement preparation.
  • Oversees collection, deposit, and disbursement of funds for LOC operations.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of accounting records and budget utilization.
  • Prepares regular financial reports and special reports as needed.
  • Inspects transactions and documentation to prevent fraud and embezzlement.
  • Manages various tasks and projects as requested by the Manager.

Educational Requirements:

  • BA Degree in Accounting or Accounting & Finance
  •  Minimum of 6 years in Accounting
  • Intermediate proficiency in English (both oral and written)
  • Confident user of MS Office
  • Familiarity with Collective Labor Agreement, Internal Regulations, and company safety policies

Position 3: Legal Manager

Main Areas of Responsibility: 

• Plan and coordinates legal activities of the Enterprise.

• Represent the Enterprise before any courts of law, quasi-judiciary bodies and administrative tribunals.

• Provides legal advice and counselling to all organizational components of the Enterprise.

• Advice personnel policy and procedures of the Enterprise are in conformity with the labour law, collective agreement and other pertinent laws of the country.

• Drafts and interprets all contracts, agreements and legal documents as to their legal sufficiency and protection of the interests of the Enterprise and as per the contract management policy.

• Collect and present an up-to-date file of legal notices, proclamations, legal codes and other legal documents.

• Provides advice and guidance to stakeholders on the technicalities of complex legal issues.

• Conducts legal research and makes necessary preparation regarding collective agreements.

• Knowledge of Collective labour Agreement and Proclamation, Internal Regulations and Safety policies of the Company.

• Perform any other tasks given by the direct manager.

Required Education and Experience:

• LLB Degree in Law

• Minimum 5 years of work experience

• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

• Confident user of MS Office, particularly MS Excel.

• Strong resourcefulness and problem-solving skills.

• Strong team player with the ability to collaborate effectively.

• Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Position 4: General Accounts Supervisor

Main Responsibilities: 

• Manage accrual accounts and ensure accuracy.

• Follow up on accruals, advances, and down payments.

• Clear outstanding items with business owners.

• Process payroll entries and address issues with People & Culture.

• Perform intercompany reconciliation and liaise with global partners.

• Ensure accurate profit center splits.

• Allocate AGILE associates efficiently and support their development.

Required Education and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory or managerial experience in finance.
  •  Over 3 years’ experience in FMCG Finance Management with regional or global reporting.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • ACCA or Chartered Accountancy Qualification preferred.
  • Excellent Excel proficiency.
  • Experience with Microsoft Navision.
  • Basic knowledge of SAP
  • Excellent English communication skill both written and verbal

Position 5: Statutory Accounting Supervisor Position Purpose:

Key Responsibilities: 
• Control and monitor enterprise accounts, ensuring proper bookkeeping, taxation, and
balance sheet accuracy.
• Prepare financial statements and liaise with external auditors.
• Assist the Finance Director with shareholder requests for year-end and mid-year
reviews.
• Review manual journals across departments for accuracy.
• Collaborate with the IT department to improve the Navision system.
• Oversee and ensure compliance with key accounts reconciliation.

Required Education and Experience

• University degree in accounting.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting role within an IFRS-reporting entity.

• Ability to work in a multicultural environment with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Open-minded, patient, and able to multitask with a hands-on approach.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
