and Adhesive Industry S.C. previously known as Kadisco Chemical Industry PLC is a privately owned company located in Addis Ababa in the Akaki Kality Industrial Zone area. Kadisco is a company that traces its origins back from a small automotive parts dealership that was operating in one of the busy streets of Addis Ababa back in late 60’s. During the period until 1975 it had the opportunity to act as the sole distributor for Sadoline Paints. In 1979 it was registered as the sole company to manufacture adhesives and glue. By stages, the company developed into a diversified paint manufacturer.

Position: Human Resources Officer

Position Summary

  • Under the direction of the Human Resource & Administration Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for formulating policies, procedures, manuals, and guidelines. The ideal candidate will oversee and coordinate all aspects of human resources and administration, including recruitment, selection, transfers, promotions, performance evaluation, training and development, labour relations, disciplinary actions, maintenance of employee records, benefits administration, and other relevant tasks. The individual in this role will be tasked with ensuring compliance with both labour laws and the company’s HR policies.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the planning and execution of recruitment strategies, including sourcing candidates, conducting initial screenings, and coordinating interviews.
  2. Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge.
  3. Coordinate employee performance appraisal processes, track performance data, and provide support in performance management activities.
  4. Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, ensuring accuracy and timely communication with employees.
  5. Support the implementation of employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs to foster a positive work culture.
  6. Collaborate with managers to address employee relations issues, facilitating conflict resolution and maintaining positive employee relations.
  7. Assist in the analysis of HR data and metrics to provide insights for decision-making and continuous improvement.
  8. Help in ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and best practices.
  9. Support HR projects and initiatives, such as HR policy reviews, diversity and inclusion programs, and organizational development activities.
  10. Contribute to the maintenance of HR documentation, including employee records, policies, and procedures.

Qualification and Experience Requirements    

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a -centric approach.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and HR software.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Prior internship or work experience in HR is a plus.

Technical Competencies 

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with callers, visitors, clients, and employees. Ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in using computer software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and familiarity with email and calendar management.
  • Scheduling and Calendar Management: Competence in managing appointments, meetings, and conference room bookings, ensuring accuracy and timely updates.
  • Organizational Skills: Effective organizational skills to maintain a neat and organized work area, manage records, and handle administrative tasks in a systematic manner.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously while ensuring timely completion of duties.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping: Proficiency in accurate data entry, maintaining records, and documenting information in a systematic and organized manner.
  • Confidentiality and Discretion: Understanding of the importance of handling sensitive and confidential information with strict confidentiality and discretion.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to handle unexpected situations, troubleshoot issues, and find solutions independently or by seeking appropriate assistance.
